Chung Mong-gyu wants the media and fans to support South Korea

The South Korean national football team are currently embarking on a quest to qualify to the FIFA World Cup for the 9th successive time as they have been consecutively been able to do it since 1986.

Out of the 4 opening 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match, South Korea tied with Syria, overcame China and Qatar while losing to Iran.

These results have positioned South Korea at the 3rd spot of group A of the Asian Football Confederation with 7 points being secured so far. In this group, the top 2 spots allow the national sides to qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup while the nation that seals the 3rd spot has to compete in the 4th round.

South Korea is obviously attempting to secure a higher spot in the group and the head chief Chung Mong- gyu has recently stated that he would like to see the fans of the national side give them more support along with the media as well.

"The World Cup qualification has never been easy. We have only played four of the 10 qualifying matches so far, and it's too early to feel disappointment. Since the match against Uzbekistan is very important, I want fans and media to show their support to the coaching staff, the players and the team."Chung Mong- gyu said.

The next 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match of South Korea is scheduled to take place on November 15 as they lock horns with Uzbekistan at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Uli Stielike is the head coach of the South Korean national side and he has been in charge of the Asian outfit since September of 2014 and so far, he has been able to push them to the group stages of the 2014 FIFA World. The German coach is hoping that he can guide them to a more advanced round of the approaching worldwide competition.
